Learn MoreWe have had reports that fraudsters have been contacting members by phone, text, and email, pretending to be from Panhandle CU. This is a common scam tactic, especially in the autumn months leading into holiday season. Fraudsters are masking the phone numbers they are calling from to match PCU numbers. Be aware that PCU will never contact you to request your online banking password, account information, etc. Members, please use caution.
In recent days, we have discovered several attempts by fraudsters pretending to be from the PCU Fraud Department. These individuals are calling people and claiming that their digital wallet needs verification, trying to obtain sensitive account information.
Please remember, a genuine call from the PCU fraud department will never request your personal information.
Rest assured that Panhandle’s data has NOT been compromised. This type of fraud is common practice for scammers. They purchase a bank of cell phone numbers and send out texts and call anyone they can. They have no way of knowing what financial institutions the cell phone owners may do business with.
